UHURU ORGANIC FARMS

  • The Purpose of the UHURU Organic Garden

At UHURU FARMS Community Garden, we are making a BIG IMPACT on the environment and in our community:

`Growing fresh fruits and vegetables for those in need or native trees, shrubs, and flowers for wildlife. `Demonstrating sustainable practices that nurture, maintain and protect the healing of our soil, water, and air. `Providing a beautiful place in our neighborhood to gather, learn, share, and enjoy.

We are ENERGIZED to partner with the community for a positive exchange, sharing our gifts and knowledge with each other.

The Newest Challenge…Becoming Apiaries, the Keeper of Bees. With mutual respect and appreciation, they just might let us in on their secrets.

As the youth and educators at UASC International Learning Center continue to deepen our knowledge of Apiculture, we are preparing ourselves to be able to teach beekeeping to interested community members.

  • SNAKES...Powerful Symbols of Transformation

Modi, the Ball Python, came to bless UHURU FARMS with his presence. The Warrior Scholars of all ages enjoyed mastering fear.

The Lessons LEARNED: master fear, not conquer it: embrace and harness its power.

Fear then becomes a secret weapon, allowing you to triumph in even the most adverse situations.

  • To COMPOST or not to COMPOST

Feed the Soil that Feeds YOU!

UASC International Scholars are testing out a new method of composting, consisting of 3 bins side by side. It is hypothesized that three bins will allow organic material to break down quicker, since the load is taken off of the original one-bin system.

The Lesson: Recycle scraps from produce to keep a fresh source of nutrient- rich soil in which to plant more fruits & vegetables. Many families have begun to compost at home, in preparation for their home gardens or to support existing gardens.

  • UHURU Equestrian

Horsemanship can be deeply spiritual, requiring a strong connection and understanding of the horse's energy and needs. For some people, horses serve as spiritual guides and teachers, helping them connect with their inner wisdom and grow personally.

At UHURU FARMS, we have partnered with Sir Nicholas Blocker of the Blocker Dude Ranch to provide equestrian training to the scholars at UASC International Learning Center.
